The Permanent Snake

Parc des Pionniers will welcome the Permanent Snake in the summer of 2026. Thank you to the City of Baie-Comeau!

Here's how Hugo describes this new project:

"I want to offer my community a permanent work of art bringing together all the colored stones collected to remind everyone of the importance of continuing to move, socialize, help each other, take time to be with family, and believe in your dreams."

The Permanent Snake will have as scales on its back all the rocks donated to make Hugo's dream come true, whether or not they meet the criteria for a Guinness World Record, for current and future generations. It will measure approximately 20 in (51 cm) high, 36 to 42 in (92 to 107 cm) wide, and 1,150 ft (29 m) long.

Preliminary work to create the prototype of the Permanent Snake has already begun. Hugo and Romy, Hugo's little sister, are already hard at work, under the supervision of a multidisciplinary artist who generously agreed to share his expertise and talent with us, Richard Ferron.

For the use of concrete, Bruno Savard, owner of Béton préfabriqué du Québec, collaborated with Richard. It is under the supervision of these two master builders that our Permanent Snake will be born.

Finally, Entreprises Laurien Jean Inc. will be responsible for preparing the site and transporting the snake to Parc des Pionniers.
